The Final Fantasy XIV Role-Playing Coalition (RPC) is a website that unites the Role-Players of this game. It consists of various RP linkshells, freelance RPers, and some general supporters as well. The RPC will also be voting on an unofficial Role-Play server, if Square Enix doesn’t assign one. Keep an eye on the site as we’ll make sure to announce the outcome of that decision when it’s made!

Since late June, The RPC has played host to their own podcast covering the many aspects of Role-Playing.

The same podcast team will be doing just that on our Aetheryte Radio Network! This podcast will focus on the Role-Playing community and various concepts of Role-Playing. Another part of their mission is to connect with average gamers who may not be familiar with Role-Playing while providing a topical, entertaining show. They plan to release an episode per week, so stay tuned!

With the news that the open beta, previously scheduled to begin on August 31, was postponed, the community was imagining the worst.  But no more!  A mere one day delay and open beta is back on.  See the announcement from Square Enix below:

Awhile back we had heard rumblings about Square Enix Crysta being used after the merger of SE Members with SE Accounts in Japan. It seems that with the recent Square Enix Account maintenance, one of the new payment features will be “Crysta”.

You’ll be able to obtain 100 Crystal for the price of $1.00. Currently, there are no services or items that can be acquired via Crysta, however we can see from the sample image that fees for online games as well as things such as security tokens can be purchased via Crysta. With Final Fantasy XIV getting closer to release i’m sure we’ll see how this could affect monthly subscription fees quite soon.

With the most recent issue of the Square Enix newsletter, we’ve learned that Square Enix and the soon to be released Final Fantasy XIV will have a presence at the upcoming Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) this week. The sold out event runs from September 3-5 in Seattle, Washington.

It sounds like those in attendance will be able to get hands on time with the latest build of Final Fantasy XIV. If you’re attending PAX, make sure to stop by the Square Enix booth!

With the launch of Final Fantasy XIV on September 22nd, the Square Enix Account Management System will be updated adding new payment features and more. Because of these upgrades, current SE Account users will need to register their account to their country of residence the first time they log into the system after September 1st.

The prerelease trailer for Final Fantasy XIV has just been released via the games official youtube channel. The clip shows off many beautiful scenes of all three city states as well as never before seen CG! Also present during this trailer is the game’s theme song “Answers” which was confirmed earlier to be performed by Distant Worlds concert regular, Susan Calloway.

Also with the release of this latest trailer comes the news that the open beta for Final Fantasy XIV will begin August 31st at 19:00 PDT!
